Honest limits

Scores use the standard Flesch formulas with heuristic syllable counting — accurate for most English text but not perfect. Passive-voice detection uses common patterns, not full grammar parsing. Readability scores are not a Google ranking factor; they guide engagement and clarity.

How to use the Readability Analyzer

  1. Paste your content into the box — 100+ words gives the most reliable scores.
  2. Press Analyze readability.
  3. Review the flagged long sentences — split them in two and simplify heavy words.
  4. Re-run until Flesch Reading Ease lands in the 60–70 sweet spot for general content.

Examples

Example

"The implementation of comprehensive search engine optimization strategies necessitates the utilization of multifaceted methodologies." scores around grade 18. Rewritten as "Good SEO takes a few different skills. Start with a technical audit." it scores around grade 6 — same idea, one-tenth the reading effort.

What this tool doesn't do

  • Syllables are counted with a heuristic (vowel groups minus silent "e") — accurate for most English, not perfect.
  • Passive-voice detection uses common patterns, not full grammar parsing — some cases will be missed or misflagged.
  • Readability scores are not a Google ranking factor; they guide clarity and engagement.
