Honest limits
Accented Latin letters are transliterated (é→e); non-Latin scripts are removed rather than transliterated. WordPress-style stop-word removal is not applied.
How to use the Slug Generator
- Type or paste your page title into the box — the slug builds live as you type.
- Choose a hyphen or underscore separator (hyphens are recommended) and a max length.
- Press Generate slug to rebuild it, then Copy slug to use it in your CMS.
Examples
Example
Café & Crème brûlée: 10 Tips! → cafe-and-creme-brulee-10-tips — accents transliterated, & becomes "and", everything lowercase and hyphenated. A title over the max length is cut at the last word boundary, never mid-word.
What this tool doesn't do
- Accented Latin letters are transliterated (é→e); non-Latin scripts (Cyrillic, CJK, Arabic) are removed, not transliterated — a deliberate strip-over-transliterate tradeoff.
- WordPress-style stop-word removal is not applied; only
&is rewritten to "and". - A clean slug helps readability and sharing — it is not a ranking guarantee on its own.
