Honest limits
A strong password doesn't stop phishing. Use a password manager and turn on 2FA wherever it's offered.
How to use the Password Generator
- Choose Password for random characters or Passphrase for memorable words.
- Adjust length, character sets, or word count — a new password generates as you change options.
- Press Generate any time for a fresh batch, then copy the one you want.
Examples
Example
Length 20, all character sets → something like k7#Qm2$xLp9@nV4!zR8w with ≈ 130 bits of entropy. Passphrase mode with 5 words → e.g. correct-horse-battery-staple-candle — easier to type, still strong.
What this tool doesn't do
- Strength labels are our estimate, not a security certification — they describe the math (entropy), not resistance to phishing or keyloggers.
- No breach checking — this tool cannot tell you whether a password was leaked before.
- Use a password manager; never reuse important passwords across sites.
